Should You Buy The New Mercedes S-Class

The latest W222 Mercedes S-Class is the ultimate luxury car. It features a swarm of technology and amazing build quality inside and out. It’s a very luxurious car indeed but should you spend over $110,000 on one?

The old W221 S-Class was a great car and the facelift model was so luxurious. Nobody ever complained about the levels of quality and luxury in that car, Currently, Mercedes is giving away special offers on brand new old W221 S-Class models. So if you want a high-spec luxury car for so much cheaper and if you’re not too bothered about having the old model then you should look into the old S-Class right now as there are some brilliant deals available on those cars right now.

However, if you’re like most people you will want the latest and greatest S-Class model. If you thought the old W221 S-class was luxurious, wait till you see the new S-Class. It takes things onto a new level and it is amazing in every single possible way. The old S-Class had been around for seven years when it was discontinued back last year but despite that, it still felt like a modern car. But Mercedes knew that in order for the S-Class to stay at the top, it had to be even more luxurious and exclusive. the old S-Class was somewhat becoming too accessible with cheap lease deals and smaller cars like the E-Class having a similar interior. Of course, it was still an exclusive car but Mercedes knew they could do better since they were once one of the world’s most luxurious brands.

It’s a Private Jet On Wheels

Every time a luxury car comes out, so many people call it a “private jet on wheels.” The phrase is losing its meaning it seems, well that’s until the new W222 S-Class comes onto the scene. The latest S-Class is so luxurious that actually, it pushes the buttons of cars like the Bentley Flying Spur, a car that costs over $100,000 more than the new S-Class. The Maybach version isn’t even out yet, so just imagine that.

The interior of the new S-Class is completely different from the likes of the other Mercedes models. It’s far more minimalist and it has so much more screen. the main screen is a 12.8-inch touchscreen and the digital cluster is a 12.3-inch display. There is also a luxury rear-seat option where you can have two 11.6 inch screens in the rear as well as a 7-inch MBUX tablet screen in the center armrest which controls many things. You literally can be a back seat driver in this car as you can change the radio, the sat nav, check the speed, etc. Plus if you have that specification, you will most likely not be driving. Instead, your chauffeur will be doing the driving so in some cases it is an autonomous car.

The new S-Class though upfront is very luxurious. You have more trims available including some lovely matte textured wood trims which look so natural and so modern up against the screen. Everything fits flush which is nice and nothing seems out of place. The large 12.8-inch touchscreen in the middle controls everything from sat-nav to climate control. But things get even better when you take a little look at how everything is laid out. The screen is set out in a “waterfall” like shape and there is a gap between the screen cluster and the four air vents and that sure does look astonishing. Between the screen and the air vents, there is an ambient lighting strip, and that really sets off the front dash. It just makes the interior look so much smarter and more special. It’s the little things that count.

The air vents are also very interesting. There are eight of them on the front dash which is more than any car. They too look really smart especially the four in the middle which looks absolutely incredible They are small but they are arranged into the shape of a long rectangle and they are finished in high-quality metal trim. Even the door trim looks high quality and that’s an area where people don’t pay as much attention too.

The seats are trimmed in the finest leather and they look and feel special. They don’t look cheap at all with their diamond cross-stitching. They feel like luxury jet seats and they are fit for any world leader. The only complaint we have is that there are no actual knobs for the volume or drive modes which is irritating because they are instead buttons. to turn up the volume you have to tap and tap which is irritating. Of course, the driver or rear passengers could use their controls but the front-seat passenger has to stretch over to change the volume. The driving modes are also on a touch button too.

The AMG line models also have a nicer steering wheel. It looks very retro and it is much more comfortable to use for the driver. The standard model has to do with a really thick steering wheel trimmed in the select interior trim.

Compared To Its Rivals

The new S-Class takes on the outgoing BMW 7-series and the Audi A8. It certainly beats both of those cars for now, since both cars will be replaced within the future. You could rival more expensive S-Class models against the likes of the Bentley Flying Spur. The S63 model will definitely give the Bentley and the new Rolls Royce Ghost a run for their money, as well as the new Maybach.

The new S-Class 100% takes it on tech. It has voice control, more screens, better rear-seats, and an awesome-looking key. You also have ambient lighting though that’s on most luxury cars. It just looks so much better on the new S-Class and what’s better is that this layout will be followed through into the likes of the CLS/E-Class and GLE/GLS SUVs.

The convertible version of the S-class will be the SL and the new GT is expected to be the S-Class coupe. Those will be pretty special and extremely luxurious. They will also be pretty quick and we expect them to be better than ever before. Those two cars could become some of the best GT cars ever made.

The S-Class looks similar to the old one though its door handles are more flush and the front grille is more angular. There aren’t many differences in all honesty. It’s more of an evolution rather than a full-on change. Me personally, I would rather the new S-class be a bit sharper and boxier as a reminiscence to the elder W140 models. If it were boxier, it would have so much more presence and it would look a lot more daring. It’s not very Mercedes like and let’s not forget that despite all the new electric cars Mercedes is launching, all of the eco materials and campaigns they’re running, and having the most liberal F1 racer in history (Lewis Hamilton) under their belt, they are the least liberal brand in history. What I mean by that is, most dictators had Mercedes vehicles. In fact, they once only made vehicles for the elite, primarily dictators.

Mercedes once made a luxury car called the “Kaiserwagen” for Emperor Hirohito of Japan. that’s the man who led Japan to war. Hitler also had a Mercedes 770 and Kim Jong Un also has a Mercedes. Saddam Hussein had a Mercedes, so did Putin, so did Pol Pot and so did Idi Amin. Of course, many evil people will buy the new S-Class mainly in Mayback 600 Pullman spec. But the new car isn’t as scary or as intimidating as it once was. Of course, though, this has no relevance in the real world.

We think if you have the money and you are in the market for a luxury car, you should buy the S-Class. It’s bold, it’s brash, and it is extremely luxurious. It is full of tech and toys and we truly believe it is the best chauffer car to go around in right now.
