The Genesis GV70 is one of the newest luxury compact SUVs on sale today, and it’s here to rival cars such as the Mercedes GLC and the Porsche Macan. The GV70 is a very nice car that looks amazing. The curves in and out, are so different in comparison to its German rivals.
Genesis is the newest luxury car competitor, so in comparison to its German rivals, brand reputation isn’t as high. However, don’t think for a second that Genesis is some cheaper crappier alternative brand, because they’re not. Hyundai’s luxury division has had a lot of investment and that becomes quite obvious when you look at the new GV70. It’s completely different from anything else out there, and I quite like that.
Take the front of the car, for example, has a massive front grille, twin lights, and some awesome curves. A very classy car indeed but things become even better when you look at the side and rear of the car. The side profile is very strange indeed with its curvy creases, small back window, and strange alloy wheels. The rear of the car also includes twin rear lights, two large exhaust outlets, and a rear spoiler.
So, why do I think that this is the best new compact luxury SUV to buy? Why do I think it’s better than the likes of the Porsche Macan? I’ll tell you.
Better Value For Money.
The Genesis GV70 starts at just over $42,000 which may sound like a lot. A GLC Mercedes starts at just over $1000 whilst a Porsche Macan starts at just over $10,000 more which is a heck of a lot more. A Jaguar F-Pace starts at just over $49,000 which is also a lot more, and that’s a car that suffers from a lot of reliability issues.
The GV70 comes standard with a 2.5-liter petrol 4-cylinder engine producing 300hp. That’s pretty decent and the 0-60 time is just over 6 seconds. However, if you do want more power a 3.5 twin-turbo V6 is available with 375hp and that does a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds. That’s pretty quick if you ask me, but nowhere near as fast as even the base Macan S V6 model. That car starts at just over $51,000 which is again far less than a V6 Mercedes GLC or Porsche Macan.
There is also a diesel 2.0 model available, which I think is only sold in Europe since the North American market is terrible for diesel cars.
An Interior To Die For.
Inside, the build quality is amazing. The feel of the materials is far better than its German rivals, plus the overall design is so much more unique. I love the circular design which houses the climate control knobs, the large touchscreen, and the aluminum finish on the buttons. It looks more os like a Bentley interior than a Hyundai interior. Plus, nothing from the GV70 is shared with any other Hyundai cars.
Everything about the inside of this car is special and different. A far more unique interior in comparison to any of its rivals from Japan, the USA, or Europe. The leather is very soft and it’s obvious that Hyundai really has not spared a penny when making this car. Everything is high-quality as it should be for a car of this caliber and price point.
the steering wheel is very elegant and easy to use. However, the base-spec models come with an uglier steering wheel that looks really fat like an egg. The sportier models come with a traditional three-spoke which looks far better. The digital dash is 3d which is a gimmick, however, just like the multimedia screen, it’s crystal clear.
It Stands Out From The Crowd
The GV70 definitely stands out from the crowd. In a world where most cars pretty much look the same, this car is a breath of fresh air. I love how fresh this car looks. It’s modern and it definitely will set the trend for years to come. I like how Hyundai has given this car its own set personality that looks exotic and attractive. It’s a cool car.
The brand Genesis itself is also new and exciting. Who knows what the brand will achieve in the next few years? This car gives me a lot of hope that the brand will continue to make many more amazing-looking cars.
The sportier model has a hexagonal patterned textured finish on the rear bumper which looks awesome. It’s the little things on this car that stand out the most. The sportier model also has larger circular chrome exhaust tips makes this car look a lot sportier and aggressive. The standard model comes with larger more square exhaust tips which also look very cool.
The launch colors are very interesting. the sportier model is in a fiery red which looks nice. However, the more basic model is finished in this rose silver color which I think looks very elegant indeed and it gives the car a completely new elegant personality indeed. I would hate to get this car in black or white since I feel those colors do not do this car any justice at all.
To Conclude
The GV70 is a fantastic-looking car. Of course, it has areas where its European counterparts score better but overall I think I will take this Korean beauty instead. I’m loving the recent design language of Genesis, mainly because it is so interesting. I love the smaller details of these cars as I think they truly make them special.
The interior design is absolutely stunning. Far better than what I have seen from Mercedes or BMW recently. The quality too is also very high. The exterior design is very nice, though I could see why some people may dislike it. It’s a very curvy car that was made to stand out. Slightly sporty but in the right color, it is elegant. Some may think the grille is too large, but for a car of this size, it is just right.
Genesis is on a roll with their new cars. The GV70 will sure be a best-seller in the years to come.
