Rolls Royce has just launched plans to create a new electric car by 2023. It’s called the Spectre, and i’s set to replace the aging Wraith which has been in production since 2013. Rolls Royce recently launched pictures of the car in camo, but it is fairly obvious that it is a Wraith replacement due to the shape of the car. It’s a two-door elegant coupe that features two suicide doors on either side of the car.
The only parts of the car that were not camouflaged were the alloys and of course, the spirit of ecstasy. However, if you do look closely you can see the door handles and the mirrors are in show too. The most camouflaged part of the car though has to be the rear. It looks as if it is a Christmas present all wrapped up. I guess Rolls Royce is creating something absolutely spectacular at the back.
The front of the car is also pretty covered up, however, I do think it will look very similar to the front of the new Ghost since the Wraith usually is a two-door version of that car. I actually do think that the rear of the new Spectre will also be very similar to the one seen on the Ghost. Rolls Royce is turning into Porsche these days when it comes to design. Keeping it all conservative and making every new model look more like a new evolution rather than something that is of revolution.
The Spectre makes complete sense. Rolls Royce has always aimed to make their cars the quietest, most luxurious, and the most refined. Electricity will definitely enhance all of these massively. Plus, these cars will be stupidly quick, maybe not as fast as a Porsche Taycan but a lot faster than any other Rolls Royce ever made.

In a League of Its Own.
The Rolls Royce Spectre will be the most luxurious electric car in the world. No questions asked about that. The Spectre will completely transform the electric vehicle industry and it will probably prompt other brands such as Bentley or Maybach to make their own electric coupes.
The Spectre will not be anything like any other electric car on the market. Cars like the Taycan, Model S Tesla, Mercedes EQS, and even the new Lucid are full of mind-blowing technology. Their main luxury feature is technology. Rolls Royce on the other hand has never been a brand that follows the “technology” trend. In fact, you’ll find most Rolls Royce vehicles are lacking massively in terms of technology in comparison to other luxury cars such as the S-Class or 7-Series.
Rolls Royce has a very different approach to luxury, which they have had since they started back in 1906. Their cars on average take around six months to make, and all of it is done by hand. Inside, a Rolls Royce is a car like no other. The quality is unmatched and the materials used are sensational.
The Spectre will be the quietest car on the road, period. Rolls Royce uses foam tires in their cars, which all utilize V12 engines. Therefore, road noise will be nonexistent.
I do believe that the Spectre will have a full driveless function. That too also makes sense due to the fact that Rolls Royce has also been a brand that has had its owner in the back seats. Whilst the Spectre will be more of a personal Rolls Royce, it would be very nice if you can let the car chauffer itself for you.
It’s Not The First Rolls Royce Spectre.
The new Spectre will not be the first Rolls Royce to be badged “Spectre.” Back in 2020, Surrey-based Coachbuilder Carat alongside Rolls Royce produced seven Spectre models which were essentially Wraith cars in shooting brake form. Each Spectre cost its owner $1.25 million which is insane. But, owners could spec their Spectre in any way they would want.
What is a coach-built car? It’s essentially a car that has been designed to have a different body. What these companies do is take the running gear of a certain car (in this case the Rolls Royce Wraith) and most of the body and completely redesign it. Of course, some things such as the pillars, seatbelt mounts, etc all have to stay the same but the rest of the car can be changed.
In this instance, Carat has taken the Wraith and turned it into a shooting brake (much like a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso). Think of it as a Wraith wagon almost, because essentially that is what it is.
Will It Prompt Mercedes to Put The Maybach Vision 6 Into Production?
The Maybach Vision 6 was a concept car launched back in 2016, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegeance. It’s a fully electric luxury coupe, and it was featured in Canadian rapper Drake’s music video for his song Laugh Now, Cry Later. It will also feature in the upcoming 2022 movie, the Flash where Bruce Wayne will be driving it.
The Vision 6 is a popular car then, and it’s something that many car enthusiasts would love to see put in production. It is a very long car and in coupe form, it has gullwing doors. How crazy is that?
If the Vision 6 was put into production, then it would be a major rival for the Rolls Royce Spectre. It would definitely have a lot more technology since that’s just what Mercedes do when it comes to luxury. Also, judging by the Spectre’s silhouette, the Vision 6 will certainly be a much more exciting car.
If sales of the Spectre go well, Mercedes may well put the Vision 6 into production. It may not look entirely like the concept but we will have to see. Just it probably won’t be as long as the concept car.
To Conclude.
The Rolls Royce Spectre is an exciting car since it is the brand’s first-ever electric car. It’s something that could definitely push other companies to make their own electric luxury coupe (i.e. Mercedes and Bentley). This probably will be the most luxurious electric car in the world, and it will be based on its own platform (rather than a BMW platform).
The Spectre will be the fastest Rolls Royce ever. It won’t be Tesla or Porsche quick, but it will be a lot faster in comparison to what we’re used to with Rolls Royce cars usually. It will also have the best driving dynamics of any Rolls Royce thanks to a very low center of gravity.
Cannot wait to see the production version of this car in 2023. It will be very special indeed and also very expensive too!
