The Lotus Evija is a 1972hp Electric Hypercar

When it comes to electric cars, most car manufacturers start off with something either in demand, small, or reasonably priced. Except for Lotus as their first electric car does not fit into any of those categories. Instead what they have done is created a car that produces almost 2000hp and costs over $2 million. You can’t buy one though as all 130 cars are sold.

Lotus does have plans to have an all-electric lineup in the future, but the Evija has straight away put a light on the Lotus marque. Who is Lotus? They are a car company based in Britain who was recently acquired mostly by China-owned Geely. They were founded by Colin Chapman in 1948. Lotus has been massively passed along throughout its car history as it struggled with debt and sales.

Lotus has been famed for making lightweight enthusiast sports cars. Most of their cars however have never passed through American borders. Why? Well simply because they were too dangerous in the government’s eyes. Most Lotus cars did not have any driver aids therefore, they were totally unsafe for the average driver.

Lotus did sell a handful of models in the USA such as the Evora GT and the Esprit, however, nothing compared to their rivals. The Lotus Evija though is a new start for Lotus. They do have plans now to ditch the old lightweight sportscar look and now gun for the big boys in the game with an all-electric lineup.

Why is the Evija so Iconic if a Tesla Roadster is Faster and Cheaper?

Good question. Well, let’s check the stats between the two cars first.

The Lotus Evija costs more than ten times over the Tesla Roadster. Performance-wise though it seems the Roadster beats the Evija hugely. So is it worth paying ten-times more then? Well let’s face it, the Evija has better aerodynamics and it looks much cooler. The Roadster is merely a supercar whilst the Evija, surpasses hypercar status. The Evija is more likely to be a dream car.

What sort of people would buy the two? Well, the Roadster has YouTubers written all over it whilst the Evija will be owned probably by a collector. As in it will sit in a garage for the rest of its life. The Evija is an aggressive drivers car.
